Specialist 4th Class Taylor McDavid was 29 years old. As his father and Grand Father before him he was Master Mason, a Shriner in Hamasa Temple, a York Right and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason,. He was the third generation to serve as Worshipful Master of Abert Lodge #89 in Starkville, MS. Worshipful Brother Taylor had attended both Starkville High School and Starkville Academy and he received an Associate Degree from Northeast Community College where he attended on a band scholarship. Taylor also attended Mississippi State University prior to enlisting in the US Army. The Army informed his wife Tiffany McDavid, also of Starkville, that Taylor has been promoted to SGT. and awarded the Bronze Star, nominated for the Silver Star and awarded the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Taylor had served in Iraq for 10 months and was expecting to return in July.
